Health workers to strike

It's about time health workers (particularly caregivers and support staff) were given fair remuneration for their work. This latest story from the Herald explains how caregivers at Guardian Healthcare are being offered between $10 to $12.50. Hello???? Have we forgotten that the minimum wage for adults is $9.50? These workers are looking after our elderly citizens. You know, those awesome people who raised us and worked bloody hard for our country so that it's the prosperous nation we see today. The key to good healthcare is good staff. In order to get good staff you need to pay them enough to attract AND retain them. $10-$12.50 p/hour. What a friggin joke. Unfortunately, I'm not laughing.
